Day 16: My Views on Mainstream Music

I honestly don't really have strong views on mainstream music. I like some of it, I really dislike some of it.

I generally dislike the poppy kind of stuff. I can handle a little Katy Perry or whatever here and there, some of it is a little catchy, but after hearing that stuff like a thousand times on the radio I want to shoot the radio every time I hear it.

I tend to gravitate to music that has a strong beat. And I also like CD's, I don't have an integrated MP3 player in my car, so I only like to listen to CD's in my car. I have a 6 CD Changer and a Bose system in my car, so I like to hear the boom of the bass. I enjoy beats that come with some music like rap, hip hop, reggeaton, drum and bass, dubstep, etc. Then on the flip side I also enjoy very smooth music like Mary J Blige or Sade. I also enjoy the more "old skool" stuff, I'm very particular to the music of my teenage years, which would be the early 90's. R&B I can listen to all day. I'm also big on reggeaton and salsa and bachata, I thank the husband and his Boricua family for that one. I also enjoy the oldies that can many times be associated with Lowrider Car Shows =)....I thank my uncles on my mom's side for that one LOL. And then you have that old skool rap and hip hop, I'll get down to old skool Snoop, Dre or Biggie any day.

I generally like most music, there is very little music that I won't listen to. I even enjoy some reggae, I've come to really like it. I can stand Banda music, even thought it's not my favorite, I've become accustomed to it because of my mom and family. I enjoy las rancheras, I have my moments where I can listen to a lot of Vicente Fernandez. There's really only one type of music that I can rarely listen to without rushing to find a way to occupy my ears with something else....and that's country music. I don't know what it is, maybe the twang, the whiney nature of it, whatever it is, I really can't stand the sound of it.

So generally, I like music, whether it's mainstream or not, but it seems that mainstream is the music that annoys me the most.
